OK, BYE
Climate Summit at Iceland Innovation Week
Ok, bye is not your normal startup conference but rather a performance, where talks and discussions will be intertwined with artistic happenings, music and visual approaches. For a day we’ll turn our venue into an Icelandic summer located somewhere between the now and the future.
This is an invite-only event taking place May 18th 09:00-12:30 in Harpa concert and conference hall. We’ll look at the changes ahead from a hopeful and constructive perspective. You’ll get the chance to know the biggest issues, how they’re being tackled, and connect with innovators and performers from all around the Nordics.
Glaciers are important. They impact weather patterns. They shape what lives, where it lives and what sort of land it lives on. In 2014, we said goodbye to Ok, the first Icelandic glacier to lose its status, and other glaciers in the country are expected to vanish in the near future. A funeral was arranged for the glacier in August 2019 and a memorial plaque was set up on top of the mountain. Ok’s memorial sparked an international media frenzy and public awareness of the situation. We must address these topics and act quickly to break the climate crisis. We invite you to step into that twilight zone and travel to the Icelandic summer, characterised by long days of full sunlight, mild temperatures, and some epic nature.
Ok, bye is a part of Iceland Innovation Week, a festival showcasing and celebrating innovation taking place May 16-20th. David Helgason serves on the festival's board of advisors and supports the Ok, bye climate summit.
A special shout out also goes out to Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson, Tanja Huld Levý Guðmundsdóttir, Flow VR, Mink Campers, 66North, Marko merki, Skógræktarfélagið, Varma, Höfði ehf / Fill.is, Sangitamya, Torf and Landsbjörg as supporters of this event.
Agenda: The agenda runs from 9:00am to 12:30pm with a break.
